 What was the poll tax and why was it introduced into Scotland first?

 Poll tax is the community charge (another way of saying poll tax)  every citizen in a city has to pay. It is a single-flat-rate-per-capita tax. Scotland was used as an 'experiment' and 'guinea-pig' by the Thatcher Governemt with the poll tax to see if t would work before introducing it to England and Wales.

Why do you think the thatcher government so unpopular in Scotland?

 I think that the Margaret government was unpopular in Scotland as they had introduced a new tax in which every citizen had to pay, as as in Scotland most people were of the under class it meant that they would have even less money that they already had.

Evaluation | It is what it is

Our film, It is what it is, is a mockumentary based on the life of a teenager named Connor. Throughout the planning of the film our initial ideas on how the film would represent the life of Connor was focused primarily on Connors actual life and how he would normally go amongst his day-to-day business. Because of this we didn't have need for props or to set-up scenes, which added to the realism and also helped to create the idea of the mockumentary being based around Social-Realism and the idea that this is how Connor actually lives. This idea was supported from the opening scenes where firstly we seen an upward panning shot of the apartments in which Connor lives at, Followed next by a panning shot of Connors bedroom. Which presents the audience with a massive pile of rubbish and empty takeaway trays with food still present in them. Key Features of the film Winters Bone. The scene that takes place in a school adds to the authentic of the film. This i due t the film being independent meaning it had a low budget making the scene contrasting as they would have most likely used a real set for this scene additionally most likely used real school children / teachers and students also adding to the authenticity. In addition, Ozark's is in the middle of the USA so would be surrounded by quite a lot of dry land, however in the film we repeatedly see a lot of boats. This brings the idea to mind that Ree and her family are trapped in their own reality. American flag links to the idea of a patriarchal society and that everyone in the society ree is living in is very standard american.
